Officially made a holiday in 1929, Lei Day celebrates Hawaiian culture and the Aloha Spirit.  It's a very colorful holiday as each island of the Hawaiian Islands has it's own special flower to represent it.

Mother goose is an imaginary author of fairy tales and nursery rhymes.  Today would be a great day to read to a child in your life from some of the nursery rhymes in this collection or perhaps make a few of your own rhymes.  Its a great day to sing songs that are put to the rhymes and to encourage children to learn them.  What is your favorite nursery rhyme?

The United States House of Representatives passed H Res. 855, a stand alone resolution on April 21, 2010, making the SSFOA Silver Star Service Banner official and making May 1 Silver Star Service Banner Day.  This day honors the memory and acknowledges the sacrifice of the men and women who have returned to us wounded or ill.
