Contrary to what you might think, today is not all about celebrating the rock-n-roll classics of yesteryear. Rather, it has to do with appreciating fossils and rocks of all kinds. Some suggestions I found for celebrating today include encouraging children to adopt a pet rock, grooming a rock garden, making jewelry out of beautiful stones, painting rocks, or making a rock stack.
However, based on the snow cover map linked below, very few people in the northern part of the Northern Hemisphere can get to outdoor rocks today!

I think there are still a few options open to those of us under the white blanket. Here are a few ideas from Amazon to get you started.
Or if you are really buried or super-super-sub-zero, and willing to dig down through the snow to find some rocks, check out my pinterest board for some homemade activities.
It would be a great day for working on a fairy garden too!
