Chicken Dance Day

May 14, 2015 by Kristin Leave a Comment

The Chicken Dance

The Chicken Dance

Swiss accordion player Werner Thomas created “The Duck Dance” or “Der Ententanz” and the well-loved dance in the 1950s.  The dance first came to the United States in 1981 during an Oktoberfest celebration in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A German band wanted to demonstrate the dance in costume for a local TV station, but a duck costume was nowhere to be found, so a chicken costume was used. And “The Duck Dance” became “The Chicken Dance.”

It’s one of the most requested dance songs at wedding (and possibly the most banned by the Bride and Groom!)

Enjoy

Hi, so glad you are here!

Every day has a celebration! Some days celebrate a certain food, idea, or activity. Sometimes a day is set aside to remember or to increase awareness of a need. Each and every day should be celebrated by spending time with family and friends enjoying whatever time we are given.
